EkkoBoard vs Wispr Flow on Android

A keyboard or a floating dictation bubble? Choose the workflow that fits how you write.

EkkoBoard editorial · Published October 6, 2026

Both products can turn spoken thoughts into polished text. The difference is where that work happens. EkkoBoard puts voice input, AI content generation and editing inside a full Android keyboard. Wispr Flow adds a dictation bubble to the keyboard you already use.

The short answer

Choose EkkoBoard if you want your keyboard to be the place where you type, dictate and ask AI to draft content. Choose Wispr Flow if you want to keep your current keyboard and add a floating voice control.

Where EkkoBoard fits

In EkkoBoard, dictation is one part of the workflow. Use the separate AI button to ask for a draft from spoken instructions, or use AI editing to change wording. The keyboard also has undo, redo, select all, copy and clipboard tools in its toolbar.

Instead of speaking an email word for word, try a brief such as: "Draft a short email asking whether the revised design is ready. Friendly tone. Don't add a deadline I didn't give you." Review the result in the destination text field before sending.

Where Wispr Flow fits

Wispr Flow offers automatic punctuation, filler-word removal, spoken self-corrections and formatted lists, with support for 100+ spoken languages. It lets you add dictation while keeping the keyboard and typing layout you already like.

The floating bubble uses overlay and Accessibility permissions to insert text. Wispr says it works with most standard Android text fields, with some custom fields not yet supported.

Try the same task in both

  1. Dictate a short message with a name, a number and a correction.
  2. Check the text in the app where you normally send messages.
  3. Count what you must fix, including names and meaning, rather than judging only how quickly text appears.
  4. Decide whether you prefer integrated keyboard controls or keeping your existing keyboard with a voice bubble.

Pick the workflow that feels natural in your everyday apps, and give the finished text a quick review before sending.
